Moments after members of a multi-jurisdictional drug task force smashed through the front door of a Northeast Side home Thursday morning, the female resident inside began shooting at them through the walls, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost.

A veteran Columbus police officer was critically wounded when one of two gunshots that struck him hit outside his bulletproof vest.

Some of the gunshots were fired at close range when the resident and the officers were in sight of each other, Yost said Thursday during a media briefing.
