A Hallandale Beach man has been arrested in connection with a July shooting outside a synagogue in northeast Miami-Dade County.

It was shortly after 6:30 p.m. July 28 when Warren Lifshutz, 68, was unlocking the doors of the Young Israel of Greater Miami Temple, 990 NE 171st St., for Sunday evening services as the shots rang out. He was hit in the legs and “ultimately collapsed on the ground,” before he could escape to safety, Miami-Dade police said.

Investigators would eventually find nine 9mm bullet casings at the scene.

The shots were fired by Carlints St. Louis, 30, who lives along the 500 block of Southwest Seventh Street in Hallandale Beach, according to police.
