A former Sioux Falls Canaries baseball player pleaded not guilty to rape and child pornography charges Monday and was denied a lower bond.
Juan Douglas Thomas Jr., 47, appeared in court in Lincoln County on Monday for an arraignment. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree rape and 10 counts of child pornography.
He was initially charged with one count of first-degree rape and was indicted by a Lincoln County grand jury on a second.
Thomas requested a lower bond. His attorney, Kolin Fink, said Thomas is a long-time Sioux Falls resident and wasn’t a flight risk. Thomas’ bond was not lowered, and kept at $250,000 cash-only.
