18-year-old charged with murder in shooting death of 15-year-old at east Charlotte apartment complex

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Police say one teenager is charged with murder and a another died after a shooting at an apartment complex in east Charlotte Monday.

Officers say the 15-year-old victim, identified Tuesday as Roman Kichigin, was shot in the parking lot of the complex on Briarhill Drive around 5 p.m. After he was shot, police said Kichigin jumped into a car and tried to drive away, but crashed into the woods.

Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the scene and found him inside the vehicle off the road. Kichigin was taken by MEDIC to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, police said 18-year-old Clifton Trimaine Stanfill was arrested and charged with murder in Kichigin’s death. He is also charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
